Hi, all.
I've heard a disturbing rumor that with patch 1.9, the level 50 PvP daily quests requiring PvE activity (collection, killing certain mobs, etc.) will force players to flag for PvP in order to complete the quest. If this happens, I will end my subscription to RIFT.
I have very strong feelings about realm types and how PvE realms should not be encouraged to devolve into PvP realms. I like PvP as a general rule but I think that trying to mix PvP into a PvE environment, even in this narrow and limited way as TRION may be doing with the collection quests, limits player freedom and choice.
If TRION wants to change PvP quests, then they should put quest objectives in warfronts, not in the world itself.
If TRION moves forward with this change, I will stop playing RIFT. Encouraging PvP on a PvE shard is detrimental to the shard itself. I will cut my losses and leave before I have to sit and watch a good game on a good shard devolve into the typical asshattery of ganking, camping, and ninjaing.
Just so everyone knows....

Well, TRION did it and I'm out once my 90 day renewal is up. "PvP Daily Quests that involve collecting items will now flag you for PvP when updated." -- From the notes for Patch 1.9. As many of you know, I love PvP. What I don't love are PvP shards where ganking, camping, and bullying of lower level, less well geared players is the norm. I will not support a company that slants its game to blur the line between PvE and PvP. It's a bad decision on TRION's part and one that I will not support with my money. It was good playing with all of you. Maybe TRION will fix this error in their thinking but I seriously doubt it. RIFT was a fun game. Too bad the developers are clueless morons.
